Wewahitchka, referred to as "Wewa" by locals, is home of the Tupelo Honey Festival. Held annually on the 3rd Saturday of May at Lake Alice Park, the festival features the world famous Tupelo Honey. Tupelo honey is produced from the tupelo gum tree which grows along the Apalachicola River. This river valley, located in Wewa, is the only place in the world where certified Tupelo Honey is produced commercially by skilled beekeepers. The flavor is delicious, delicate, & distinctive.

In addition to sweet honey, Wewahitchka features some of the best freshwater fishing in the area. The Dead Lakes, Chipola, & Apalachicola River systems are full of secret fishing holes that generate untold fishing tall tales about the "one that got away".
For the hunting enthusiast there are numerous state & privately owned woodlands including the Apalachicola National Forrest and Gaskin Wildlife Management that offers thousands of acres of woodlands.
The people are the number one asset in Wewahitchka. Smiling faces and a friendly wave are the norm in this quaint hometown community.
